THE TRAVEL AGENCIES IN THE WAR WITH AFFILIATES
Today I found this amazing story on several web pages related to tourism, the Spanish Federation of Travel Agents (FEAAV) is at war against the marketing affiliates.
Sounds a little like the city of Móstoles declared war on their own to the United States, since affiliate marketing is now a consolidated reality, not an experiment that has just been born. But the truth is that this is not a clever joke. The FEAAV takes seriously its allegations. Considered illegal for a person or company not registered as a travel agency can take some benefit, for it is indirect, from the sale of a package tour. I quote a snippet of news, as published in the tourist portal Hosteltur:

Now, the federation of travel agents is investigating the operation of the affiliate programs that are online. They work based on the ads on the web by the participants (travel metasearch, but also can be viewed on websites of other types of companies and even individuals in webs). If the net click on the advertisement, the link directs you to the website of the supplier (airlines and hotels for the most part). If it generates a reservation, the affiliate receives a commission which in most cases is higher than it would receive a travel agency. ”
Later, the president of the FEAAV adds that it is investigating whether the affiliate marketing tourism is applied to illegal competition. Actually have not yet submitted any complaint: what you probably are investigating whether they have any possibility of a complaint of this type to flourish in the courts.
